Healthy Weight Day

Faith Cavalli is our Store Nutritionist with over 10 years experience and qualifications in fitness and nutrition. She will be running two healthy weight days this month:

I will be running two healthy weight days in-store on the 3rd and 4th of August, you can ask for advice on lifestyle changes and view a range of products which can assist you on your healthy weight journey.

The focus for healthy weight should be on losing body fat not on total weight, it is important we maintain and build muscle in the body to increase metabolism which in turn will help you lose body fat.

The best way to lose body fat is to exercise five days per week for 60 minutes, this can be walking, swimming, dancing, gardening or anything else that increases heart rate. You should also aim for 2-3 of your sessions to include resistance training; this could be at the gym using weights or a series of body weight exercises at home.

Never try fad diets which exclude food groups, this is not healthy and can lead to further weight gain in the future.

Aim to get into life long healthy habits, so improvements made stay with you for life, to do this it is best to set realistic goals to fit in with your current lifestyle, small changes can have a big impact.

Eat lots of fruit and vegetables, yes we hear this all the time but it really is the answer to being a healthy weight. If you fill up on a nutritious diet you are less likely to snack on unhealthy foods. Bulk your meals up with lots of vegetables, at meal time’s aim for half your plate being vegetables.

Ensure you keep hydrated (with water preferably), you can always add lemon, lime, cucumber or strawberries to your water to make it more interesting. If you are dehydrated it will slow your body down including your metabolism, so keeping hydrated ensures your keep everything going.

There are a great range of products in store which we can advise on including lots of lovely organic fruit and vegetables, pulses and grains to make simple healthy meals.

I look forward to meeting you all.
